What They’re Like to Live With

Having a Miniature Schnauzer can almost be like having a child—but in a good way. They are alert, perky and playful, but they need guidance to learn manners and obedience. The more you give—whether playtime, constructive games or good old-fashioned attention—the better they get. They love to feel involved in family occasions and will make trouble if they feel ignored.

Highly intelligent and easy to train, Miniature Schnauzers nevertheless have a fearless streak. Often, they will go up against much larger dogs. And as they grow older they get more territorial. They will bark when they sense a threat, but Miniature Schnauzers are not prone to random or excessive noise. The ideal guard dog, their bark is much worse than their bite.

Things You Should Know:
Miniature Schnauzers are high-energy dogs. Without lots of exercise and activity, they can go a little stir-crazy and buggy and mischievous. Miniature Schnauzers, if neglected or not sufficiently exercised, can become destructive or get into other types of trouble.

Miniature Schnauzers need to be brushed regularly to avoid matting. You might want to occasionally trim their beards as well. These dogs, to look their best, will need regular professional grooming.

A healthy Miniature Schnauzer can live as long as 15 years, aging gracefully. Relatively healthy, they can sometimes develop eye problems, kidney stones and diabetes.

Miniature Schnauzer History:
The Miniature Schnauzer originated in 19th-century Germany. Originally intended to keep rats out of barns, they were derived from a mix of Standard Schnauzers, Affenpinschers and possibly Miniature Pinschers. The first Miniature Schnauzer on record appeared in 1888 and their first exhibition came in 1889. They began to be bred in the U.S. in 1925 and in 1933 the American Miniature Schnauzer Club was formed.

Miniature Schnauzers have an overall alert, robust stance—much like their cousins, Standard Schnauzers. They have small, square frames with long heads bearing bushy moustaches, beards and eyebrows. They have oval-shaped eyes, strong muzzles and V-shaped ears that bend forward. Their tails, sometimes docked, are carried high. They come in solid black, salt & pepper, silver & black and sometimes white.

My Stupid Human Got Something New

It is something called a Live Writer but he tells me it will help us make it easier to post blogs, whatever those are, to not only my Blog here but to the ones he uses too. I guess that's alright with me cause I can't even spell. (at least that's what he thinks) He says it has all kinds of capabilities. Hmmm, I think he's gonna try some.

Would you look at that! If I could do that I would never leave the house, oh wait, I can do better than that.... I can lick ..... well we won't get into that, I don't want to make all of you jealous.

These are the fish we caught when I went out with Vandamonium, Steve, Roy and Linda. I had a great time running all over that boat. Sassy my friend didn't check the lines like I did. After several comments that I will call constructive critisism I have come to the following conclusion. I don't really have a clue as to what's going on in this traffic enhancement stuff. I have however decided to endorse five and only five of the programs I have been using. I have listed them below. They are listed in the order of my liking. The one I like the most being on top, the one showing more business type stuff on the bottom. If you have no web based businesses and are just addicted to blogging and interaction with nothing but other bloggers then I suggest the first three only. Okay, I've had more time to check this out and I endorse it 110%. I still like and use BlogExplosion but between last nights 103 credit win and a 136 credit win a few minutes ago I am hooked on BlogClicker. Did you notice the white haired "bicth" above. That's my friend "binkie". She's over for a couple of days while her human goes playing down in Mexico. She eats my food all the time, plays with my cat R.C., but, she sure is fun to snuggle with. I used to do something else until that snip, snip thing. Now I can't remember what it was. Sniff, sniff.

This is a picture of me and my human "vandamonium". We live on the edge of this big thing of salty tasting water they call the gulf of mexico. I do know that we are in a town called Port Aransas and a state called Texas. I will be three years old in February and like my life. I get to go riding in vandamonium's friend Steve's "sub", go fishing, walking on the beach, hang out at Beeman's Coffee bar, Lovett's bar and all the other places here on the Island. What a D.O.G.'s live!

Snapped about 20 shots of this today on a beach cruise trying to get the perfect shot. I didn't even realize that I had snapped one and captured "Binkie" in the mirror. I came out of it with a better picture than I had even thought about in the first place.
